Eric Leupold to Succeed Robbert Booij as CEO of Eurex
Eurex Frankfurt AG has appointed Eric Leupold as its new CEO, effective 1 January 2027. He will succeed Robbert Booij, who has decided not to seek an extension of his Executive Board mandate.

Robbert Booij’s tenure as CEO had record performance, tangible growth, and disciplined cost management. He also played a key role in integrating Eurex Exchange and Eurex Clearing into a unified, client-centric organisation. His tenure will end as Eurex prepares for its next phase under Leupold’s leadership.
Who is Eric Leupold?
Leupold began his career at Deutsche Börse Group in 2009. Over the years, he held several senior positions across the organisation, including roles in issuer and primary market relations, capital markets, new markets, venture portfolio management and DB1 Ventures.
He has served as Head of Deutsche Börse Cash Market and Managing Director. Also, he has served as Chief of Staff of Trading & Clearing and Head of Strategy. Outside these roles, Leupold has held several board and leadership positions, including CEO of Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Vice Chairman of Forge Europe, and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Crypto Finance AG.
What Eric Leupold Says
In his LinkedIn post, Leupold described his five years as Head of Cash Market as an important chapter in his career. During that period, his team expanded the retail offering and strengthened its leadership in ETFs. He also stressed the rebranding and revitalisation of Alte Börse. With Cash Market now ready for future growth, Leupold said he feels ready to take on a new challenge within the Group.
Leupold sees his move to Eurex as an honour and a significant responsibility, particularly after Booij’s successful tenure. He will work with the Eurex team and international partners to conduct the next innovation and growth phase. He also thanked the Cash Market team, clients and colleagues in Deutsche Börse Group for their trust, energy, and partnership.

Eurex is a derivatives exchange based in Germany. It offers trading in varied European-based derivatives. The merger of Deutsche Terminbörse (DTB) and the Swiss Options and Financial Futures Exchange (SOFFEX) established it in 1998. Deutsche Börse AG acquired full ownership of Eurex in 2012.
