Marex has appointed Robert Cheeseman as Managing Director and Head of Prime Services, Asia. He joins the company as its prime brokerage business is growing globally, with significant opportunities across Asia. The appointment comes as hedge funds, asset managers, family offices and institutional investors in the region seek partners that can fuse institutional infrastructure, high-touch service, and local market expertise.
Who is Robert Cheeseman?
Before joining Marex, Cheeseman co-founded Fractal Trading Strategies in January 2025. There, he worked as a trader and built a quantitative futures trading platform. He also served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Client Development at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited. There, he oversaw institutional buy-side, sell-side, proprietary trading, data, and retail client coverage teams.
Earlier in his career, Cheeseman was Managing Director and Head of APAC Listed Derivatives Execution and Clearing at Credit Suisse. He also spent nearly six years at Morgan Stanley as Executive Director and Head of APAC Listed Derivatives Execution. Also, he served at Goldman Sachs in listed derivatives execution sales and trading and cash equity electronic trading.

Cheeseman will lead Marex’s next growth phase in Prime Services across Asia. He brings more than 25 years of experience in Asian markets to the role.
