Trading Technologies Acquires TRAFiX to Expand Multi-Asset Trading

Trading Technologies has acquired TRAFiX LLC, a provider of equities and equity options order and execution management systems (OEMS) and FIX connectivity solutions. The transaction expands TT’s coverage beyond futures, foreign exchange (FX), fixed income, and cryptocurrency. With TRAFiX, TT will also cover global equities and equity options on a single cloud-native platform.

More on Acquisition

TT said the acquisition will help it build one of the most comprehensive multi-asset trading platforms in capital markets technology. The integration will bring equities and equity options OEMS capabilities into TT’s current platform. The combined offering will include execution management and order management tools, FIX and market connectivity, risk management, analytics, and regulatory reporting. It will also support trade surveillance and compliance workflows with pre-trade and intraday margin analytics across multiple asset classes.

Unified Architecture

The enhanced platform will let buy-side and sell-side customers replace fragmented legacy vendor systems with a unified cloud-native trading architecture. TT said customers may manage risk and capital efficiency in asset classes in real time. The platform will also support automated workflows and cross-asset trading strategies. Through a single connectivity layer, customers will get access to major liquidity providers worldwide for exchange-traded and over-the-counter (OTC) products.

What Executives Say

Justin Llewellyn-Jones, CEO of Trading Technologies, described the acquisition as a major step in the company’s move toward multi-asset trading. He said the integration will give customers a single cloud-native system for cross-asset trading. He also stressed TRAFiX’s customer base of more than 200 firms and its connectivity to more than 100 trading venues. According to Llewellyn-Jones, fusing the two platforms will create a differentiated offering for capital markets customers.

Walter Fitzgerald, Co-Founder and CEO of TRAFiX, said the platform was built to meet the needs of modern global trading desks. He stressed its low-latency execution, real-time data visibility, and compliance capabilities. Fitzgerald also said joining TT will let TRAFiX combine its equities and options capabilities with TT’s global scale and expand its multi-asset offering.
