Plus500 to Power US Futures Trading for Wealthsimple Customers in Canada

Plus500 has partnered with Wealthsimple to bring US futures trading to Canadian retail investors. The partnership lets Wealthsimple offer direct access to US futures contracts using Plus500's trading infrastructure. The agreement also expands Plus500's growing business-to-business (B2B) network as the company keeps providing trading technology and infrastructure to financial firms.

Access to US Futures

Wealthsimple's Canadian retail investors could trade US futures contracts for the first time under the partnership. The service will run through Plus500's proprietary futures trading platform. Plus500 will provide the technology behind the service, including clearing, order routing and risk management. The same infrastructure already supports its regulated futures business in the US.

Strengthening B2B Business

The partnership is also Plus500's strategy to grow its B2B operations. The company said it has a strong pipeline of additional partnership opportunities that are already in progress. Wealthsimple selected Plus500 because it offers proprietary technology, CFTC-regulated clearing capabilities, and operational infrastructure as one integrated solution. It lets partners access multiple services through one provider.

Recent B2B Expansion

The Wealthsimple agreement follows several other partnerships by Plus500. The company recently became the clearing partner for CME Group and FanDuel's event-based contracts platform. It also partnered with Topstep. These partnerships show that Plus500 is expanding its presence in the futures market by providing infrastructure to other financial businesses. The company added that more B2B partnership announcements are expected as its partner ecosystem grows.
