IG Securities Extends US Trading Hours
IG Securities has announced an extension of trading hours for select US instruments. It will begin on Monday, July 21, 2025. Clients will be able to trade 40 US-listed stocks, ETFs, and CFDs during extended hours. It gives retail traders in Japan more flexibility to access the US markets overnight.
New Trading Schedule
The updated trading window will run from 5:00 PM to 9:00 AM Japan time. On Fridays, trading will close earlier, at 6:00 AM. This schedule follows the US daylight saving time system. Traders must note the difference between regular and Friday timings to avoid confusion. The extended window lets users respond to US market developments in near real-time during Japan’s night hours.

Orders placed before extended hours will still execute if the price condition is met during the overnight trading window. IG has also issued a margin caution. The platform will automatically liquidate positions if the effective margin balance in a trader’s account drops below 75% of the required maintenance margin. Traders must monitor their margin levels to prevent forced closures.
