IG Japan to Delist Over 30 US Stocks

IG Japan will stop offering over 30 US stocks on its platform. A significant shift for users who rely on the broker for US market exposure.

What’s Changing?

IG Japan will cease trading support for more than 30 individual US stocks. The delisting applies to new and existing positions both. Customers will no longer be able to open new trades in these stocks after August 15, 2025. By August 30, 2025, all positions in the affected stocks must be closed. Any remaining positions will be closed automatically by the broker after this date.

What it Means for Traders in Japan?

The delisting affects retail traders who used IG Japan to access these US equities. Investors focusing on short-term gains or high-risk, high-reward plays may lose key instruments. The move limits access to a portion of the US market that offered growth opportunities, albeit with volatility. It could reduce diversification options. Those with open positions must act promptly to avoid forced liquidations.

What IG Japan Clients Should Do Next?

Clients should review their portfolios and close any open positions in the affected stocks before the deadline. They can consider opening accounts with other brokers that still offer them to continue trading these US stocks. International platforms or local competitors with broader US equity coverage may be suitable alternatives. Traders should also check for commission structures, minimum deposit requirements, and trading tools before switching platforms.
