Retail investors are maturing beyond the ‘dumb money’ stereotype. They are adopting high-engagement, disciplined strategies, and broader diversification, according to eToro‘s latest quarterly Retail Investor Beat survey of 11,000 investors across 13 countries.
Active Engagement Levels
70% of retail investors actively review their investments, while 79% invest monthly. Younger generations lead: 87% of Gen Z and 86% of millennials invest each month. Only 79% of Gen X and 68% of boomers.
Shift in Investor Behavior
eToro’s Global Market Strategist Lale Akoner notes that today’s retail investors are deliberate and consistent, unlike the reactive opportunists of 2021. Younger investors are shaped by volatility and macro uncertainty. They use technology for strategic risk management.
Portfolio Diversification Trends
Investors continue broadening across asset classes for the second year. Holdings are rising in cryptoassets, foreign equities, commodities, and domestic bonds.
