Barclays Appoints Khaled El Dabag and Walid Mezher as Co-CEOs
Barclays has appointed Khaled El Dabag and Walid Mezher as Co-Chief Executive Officers for its Middle East operations. It aims to strengthen its investment and private banking presence across the Middle East and North Africa.

Stephen Dainton, President of BBPLC and Head of Investment Bank Management, appointed Khaled and Walid to jointly lead the Middle East region. Both leaders will be based in Dubai and report directly to Dainton.
Who is Khaled El Dabag?
Khaled El Dabag joined Barclays in 2014 to co-lead the investment banking business in the region. Khaled has worked in Dubai and New York, building strong relationships with major clients. Prior to Barclays, he was Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. Before that, he held the same title at Stephens Inc. He began his career at Merrill Lynch. There, he served as Vice President.
Who is Walid Mezher?
Walid Mezher has spent 19 years with Barclays. He has held leadership roles across sales, origination, and market strategy. He was the Head of Markets for the MENA region. There, he oversaw all Sales and Origination activities across the Middle East and Africa. Also, he led Cross Asset Sales for MENA. Earlier, he co-headed the Risk Solutions Group and Debt Capital Markets and managed Institutional Sales for MENA. Walid’s career began at Byblos Bank in Paris as a Relationship Manager. He later worked as a Financial Analyst intern at GE Healthcare and took an internship at HSBC as an International Business Officer in Paris.
